Stay in a Loire Valley Château-Monastery in Touraine
At La Corroirie, between Loches and Montrésor, five guest rooms occupy the former hostelry of an inhabited château-monastery. You are not sleeping in accommodation designed to resemble a château: you are staying within the historic monument itself, beside the medieval church, the moat, the grounds and the Forest of Loches.
La Corroirie is particularly suited to a stay of several nights. The château-monastery changes with the hours of the day, while its location makes it possible to alternate time on the estate with visits to Montrésor, Loches, Chenonceau or ZooParc de Beauval, returning to the same place each evening.
The five rooms occupy the former hostelry, the part of La Corroirie historically associated with welcoming guests. The monastic heart of the site centres on the church and the brothers’ buildings, protected by fortifications and the keep. This combination of monastic, seigneurial and defensive functions explains the character of the château-monastery today.
The rooms are not standardised. Their proportions, windows, light and views depend on the part of the historic building in which they are situated. Each therefore offers a different relationship with La Corroirie.
A stay is about more than the room. Breakfast is included and served in the château’s great hall. A shared kitchenette is available to guests, while the grounds, pond and nearby paths leave room for time spent at La Corroirie itself.

The Five Guest Rooms of the Château-Monastery
Each room has its own layout, shaped by the architecture of the former hostelry and by the part of the château, moat or landscape that it overlooks.
The Cardinal Room
Approximately 35 m², the Cardinal Room overlooks the church, roses and garden. It includes a sitting area and desk, as well as an enclosed bathroom with shower, bathtub and toilet.
The Seigneurial Room
At approximately 50 m², the Seigneurial Room is the largest of the five. Facing more towards the interior of the château, it is distinguished by exposed beams, woodwork, antique furniture and a large 180 × 200 cm bed.
The Monial Room
Approximately 25 m², the Monial Room overlooks the moat, grounds and open horizon. Light and understated, it has a shower and a sleeping area raised by a single step.
The Monacal Room
Approximately 25 m², the Monacal Room is the most understated and secluded. Facing towards the interior of the château, it retains its small historic windows; its private bathroom is reached through a short private passage.
Breakfast, Included in Your Stay
Breakfast is served in the château’s great hall before setting out for Loches, Montrésor or Chenonceau, or spending the morning on the paths around La Corroirie.
Bread, freshly baked croissants, jams, honey from the estate’s beehives, yoghurt and fruit form the morning table.
Juice is pressed to order and coffee is freshly ground. On some mornings, a Sainte-Maure-de-Touraine goat’s cheese completes the breakfast.
Breakfast is also part of the time spent in the château: there is no need to leave immediately after waking simply because another visit awaits.

It’s located within nature, very quiet (apart from toads concerts in the evening!) and close to interesting places like Loches, Montresor, Chaumont. There are good restaurants not too far away, even a lake for swimming. Jeff and Jules are very accommodating and good fun, and you can use the atmospheric day rooms for reading and sipping some wine.”

A Shared Kitchenette for Guests
A shared kitchenette is available throughout the stay. It can be used to prepare a simple meal, warm a dish, put together a picnic or dine at La Corroirie when you would rather not go out again in the evening.
It includes an oven, microwave, kettle, coffee machine, shared fridge, crockery and the necessary utensils. There is no hob or stovetop.
A few products are also available on site, including drinks and terrines made by Fabrice Dallais.

Practical Information for the Five Rooms
All five rooms are on the first floor of the château, without a lift. The stairs are part of the historic architecture, so a small bag or light suitcase is easier to carry upstairs than a large case.

- Bed: large 180 × 200 cm double bed in every room, with three large pillows
- Mattresses: two individual bed bases and two mattresses joined together, which cannot be separated
- Linen: cotton jersey sheets, duvet, two large bath sheets, two towels and bath mat
- Bathroom: private bathroom or shower room and private toilet in each room
- Wi-Fi: free access in every room, including Wi-Fi calling
- Television: available only in the Seigneurial Room
- Ventilation: a fan is available in each room
- In-room provisions: handmade soaps from Azay-le-Rideau and complimentary slippers
- Parking: in the private courtyard of La Corroirie
- Pets: accepted under conditions; they must not be left alone in rooms or allowed on beds

Location and Getting Here
La Corroirie is in Touraine, directly on the D760 between Loches and Montrésor , on the edge of the Forest of Loches.
The estate belongs to the municipality of Chemillé-sur-Indrois, but the village centre is about 4.5 km away and is not on the D760. When planning your journey, navigate to La Corroirie itself rather than to the village centre.
Overnight guests use an entrance separate from that of day visitors. You may drive into the château courtyard and leave your car parked there throughout your stay.
Montrésor is only 4.5 km from La Corroirie, while Loches can be reached in around twelve minutes. Chenonceau and ZooParc de Beauval make natural day trips, allowing you to return to the château-monastery in the evening rather than changing accommodation.
Exploring the Loire Valley from La Corroirie
La Corroirie lies in southern Touraine, between Loches and Montrésor and beside the Forest of Loches. The paths around the estate, pond, woodland and quiet country roads already offer places to explore without travelling far.
Montrésor, only 4.5 km away, and Loches, around twelve minutes away, can easily belong to separate days or half-days during a longer stay.
Château de Chenonceau can be given its own day, while ZooParc de Beauval deserves at least a full day and can be visited over two days for a more complete experience.
The Treasure Route offers another way to explore the closer heritage of southern Touraine through Montrésor, the Liget, Nouans-les-Fontaines, Beaulieu-lès-Loches and Loches.
