The Monacal Room, simplicity and retreat within the château
The Monacal Room is shaped by a more pronounced simplicity. The space is restrained, the lines are clear, and the presence of stone is enough to give the room its character.
Here, the eye does not seek a distant view. It remains within the room, in a quieter and more inward relationship with the place, at the heart of the château-monastery of La Corroirie.
A room shaped by simplicity
The materials are present without effect. Stone, terracotta tiles and antique furniture compose a restrained interior, where each element seems naturally to have found its place.
Nothing here seeks to draw attention to itself. The room remains quietly contained, in keeping with the character of the place.
Inhabiting silence
The sleeping area and bathroom belong to the same quiet continuity, without breaking the character of the main room.
The room belongs to the five rooms of the château-monastery of La Corroirie, each offering a different way of inhabiting an ancient place that is still lived in today.
Staying here means inhabiting a more inward-facing room, in a different relationship from the Monial Room, which opens towards the horizon and the light.
Practical details of the Monacal Room
The Monacal Room is a more inward-facing room in the medieval wing of the château. A few practical details make it easier to prepare the stay without reducing this quiet relationship with the monument to a list of amenities.

- Bed: large double bed, 180 x 200 cm, with three large pillows
- Sleeping arrangement: two bed bases and two individual mattresses joined together, which cannot be separated
- Linen: cotton jersey sheets, duvet, two large bath towels, two towels and a bath mat
- Bathroom: separated from the bedroom by a private corridor, with a large shower head, washbasin and toilet
- Openings: small old windows and arrow slits in the medieval wing of the château
- View: towards the courtyard and the church
- Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi calling: free access in the room, including for phones, tablets and computers
- Ventilation: a fan is available in the room
- In the room: handmade soaps from Azay-le-Rideau and slippers

Other ways of inhabiting La Corroirie
The Monacal Room belongs to a set of five rooms, each connected to the place in a different way.
Here, the eye remains within, in a more restrained relationship with the place. Elsewhere, it moves differently: closer to the church, old roses and garden in the Cardinal Room, or more open towards the moat and horizon in the Monial Room.
Choosing the Monacal Room means inhabiting a more inward-facing space, shaped by simplicity and silence, where the place remains present without seeking to open towards a distant view.
