Élixir4 Distillery at the Château-monastère de la Corroirie
In the former outbuildings of La Corroirie, the distillery continues the history of the place in another form.
Set within the Château-monastère de la Corroirie, the Élixir4 distillery works with plants, fragrances and raw materials in close attention to the estate. Here, the creation of a spirit is not separated from the landscape. It is born from gardens, seasons, slow gestures and the old memory of the place.
Élixir4♥ draws from this vegetal presence. Angelica, rose, legal hemp and honey enter into a botanical research carried out on site, in quiet resonance with the history of the Carthusians, who once cultivated medicinal and aromatic plants. Distillation becomes a contemporary way of inhabiting La Corroirie: discreet, experimental, rooted.
A contemporary presence within an ancient place
The distillery belongs to the continuity of the Château-monastère de la Corroirie, without disturbing its balance. In these buildings once used by the Carthusians and those who served the estate, plants find a place again — no longer medicinal in the old sense, but sensitive, transformed differently.
Nothing has been reconstructed. It is rather a continuation: a present-day way of pursuing an ancient relationship between place, plant and transformation.
Working with plants
The plants used in Élixir4♥ are not chosen to illustrate a recipe, but for what they bring in presence, fragrance and structure. Some are grown on the estate; others are selected for their botanical accuracy.
Roots, leaves, flowers, seeds: each part enters into a slow research, where one observes, adjusts, and lets time do part of the work.
An attentive distillation
Transformation takes place on site, with attention to balance. Maceration precedes a gentle, low-temperature distillation, seeking less to extract than to reveal.
Wheat, honey, plants: nothing is isolated. Together they compose a spirit in which the materials remain legible, without being forced.
Élixir4♥
Élixir4♥ is not presented as a range, but worked through variations. Angelica, rose and other paths still in research each explore a different relationship with the vegetal world.
Legal hemp and honey take part in the composition, not as effects, but as nuances. Nothing here seeks to surprise immediately. Taste is discovered over time.
Entering the distillery
The distillery is not open continuously. It opens at particular moments, during events, shared encounters or accompanied visits. One enters it as one enters the rest of the place: without a fixed route, in direct relation to what is made here.
During a stay at La Corroirie, or as part of a private gathering, it is sometimes possible to extend this approach through a tasting.
A research still in progress
Distillation here is not a fixed result. It remains a research, connected to seasons, trials and adjustments.
Each numbered flask bears witness to this progression, more than to a will to produce. It marks one stage in an exploration that continues, slowly.
Frequently asked questions about the distillery
The distillery is not discovered all at once. It raises questions, often during visits, stays and shared moments at La Corroirie.
What is Élixir4?
Élixir4♥ is a botanical vodka distilled at La Corroirie. It is based on research around a few plants — legal hemp, angelica, rose and honey — worked in a spirit close to the tradition of medicinal simples, without artificial flavouring.
Can the distillery be visited?
The distillery is not open continuously. It opens at certain moments, during events, accompanied visits or shared tastings. Dates may appear in the agenda, or can be discussed during a stay at La Corroirie.
Where is the distillery located?
It is installed in the former servants’ building, at the entrance to the monks’ courtyard. The stones, volumes and uses of the place have been preserved, without visible transformation.
Can Élixir4 be bought on site?
Yes, when the distillery is open or during a stay. Sales take place directly on site. It is also possible to ask through the contact page.
Are the plants grown on the estate?
Some of the plants are grown at La Corroirie, in an approach attentive to the place and the seasons. Others are selected for their botanical quality, without an industrial logic.
Are other creations planned?
The distillation work is built slowly. Other paths exist, but they are not yet fixed. They may appear over time, through trials and seasons.
Can a tasting be organised?
Tastings may take place as part of a shared moment or a group visit. They belong to the continuity of the place, without a fixed format. To go further, see the page dedicated to private use of La Corroirie.
