Visits and experiences at La Corroirie
At La Corroirie, activities are not arranged as a programme. They appear through the place itself: walking in the forest, following a Land Art trail, approaching the pond, observing, or simply staying.
Each gesture extends the place without breaking it. One moves from one space to another without a sharp transition, between architecture, landscape and presence.
For the history of the site and the visit of the 13th-century church: approach the history of La Corroirie and the Carthusians.
Visiting the historic monument
At La Corroirie, the visit is not a spectacular route. It moves through the depth of the place, between buildings, moat and former uses. A self-guided visit leads to the church consecrated in 1206, an intact witness to a monastic, agricultural and feudal history.
Here, history is not separated from the landscape. It is approached through stone, light and the circulation of the site, at human scale, in a rhythm that remains free.
The estate distillery
In the former outbuildings, the distillery extends the place through other gestures. Jeff de Mareuil pursues a careful research into plants, materials and the rhythms of transformation.
Approaching the distillery means entering a contemporary form of patience, attuned to the estate and its seasons.
Vox Alchimia — Land Art
In the woods and along the edges of the estate, Vox Alchimia brings together contemporary creation, alchemy, landscape and monastic memory.
The trail does not impose itself. It is discovered while walking, by fragments, in a slow attention to forms and correspondences.
Paths, forest and cycling
From La Corroirie, the paths naturally extend the estate. On foot, by bicycle or on horseback, one reaches the edges and trails of the royal forest of Loches, a wide wooded landscape where silence, openness and human presence remain closely linked.
Everyone finds their own way of moving: a long walk, a detour, a pause, an observation. The movement begins here without rupture from the place.
Cycling routes also connect La Corroirie with the wider paths of southern Touraine and the Loire Valley. Leaving the estate asks for a little effort — La Corroirie lies in an old hollow — but the return is gentler. See one itinerary.
Repair stations are available in the surrounding area for longer rides.
Less than a kilometre away, a forest path is also suitable for running or brisk walking at daybreak, among the trees.
Horse, pond and hot-air balloon
The estate can welcome your horse within the spirit of the Accueil Cheval label. Some rooms — Cardinal, Pastoral or Monial — make it possible to stay close to the landscape crossed during the day. Those arriving without a horse can also be guided towards nearby equestrian centres. Contact us.
Equestrian routes and labelled accommodation are not always easy to identify online; we can help orient the stay according to the route.
The pond of La Corroirie, established since the Middle Ages, fully belongs to the history of the estate. One may fish there without a permit, provided the fish are released, but also sit, read, watch the water or simply remain by its edge.
With our partner BalloonRevolution, a departure from the estate may be considered. Seeing La Corroirie from above, in the early morning, places the site in another scale of silence and space. This possibility is especially suited to a private use of the estate or a specific request.
Slowing down, staying, inhabiting
Some experiences only take on their full meaning by staying on site. Sleeping at La Corroirie makes it possible to meet the estate again in the morning and in the evening, in the hours when it closes gently to passing visitors.
The rooms of the château-monastery extend this experience over time, close to silence, stone and landscape.
