The Pastoral Room, moat and evening light
A room open to the landscape, where the day slowly stretches towards evening.
The Pastoral Room looks towards the moat and the park, in a direct relationship with the outside. The eye meets no nearby boundary, but distance, space and a sense of breathing.
A freestanding bathtub faces this opening. It follows the changing light, particularly at sunset, when colour settles slowly over the water and stone.
The room becomes a passage between inside and outside, between day and night, in a simple and quiet continuity.
A room turned towards the landscape of Touraine
From the Pastoral Room, the view extends towards the moat, the woods and the fields surrounding the château-monastery. Three large openings bring the light deeply into the room and naturally extend the interior towards the landscape.
As the hours pass, the room follows the day without holding it still. Morning is clear and quiet. By evening, the shadows lengthen, the windows frame the horizon, and the room takes on a softer, slower tone.
This constant relationship with the outside gives the Pastoral Room its character: a place where one does not withdraw from what surrounds it, but remains quietly connected to the landscape.
The large double bed, 180 x 200 cm, is made up of two individual bases and two joined mattresses. They cannot be separated, but allow greater sleeping independence within the same bed.
A bathtub facing the evening
The bathroom continues the relationship between the room and the landscape. The freestanding bathtub, turned towards the horizon, carries that connection into moments of stillness.
Taking a bath here means remaining within the movement of the day. The gaze continues even while the body rests. The shower, open to the room, has a large showerhead and belongs to the same simple continuity of space.
Three large pillows accompany the bed. The linen is cotton jersey, with a duvet. Two large bath towels, two towels and a bath mat are also provided.
Handmade soaps from Azay-le-Rideau and slippers are present in the room. Wi-Fi is available free of charge, a fan remains at hand, and parking is in the private courtyard of La Corroirie.
The Pastoral Room is one of the five rooms of La Corroirie, each offering a different way of inhabiting an ancient place that is still lived in today.
Staying here means allowing the pace to slow, watching the light change and remaining connected with the landscape — in a different way from the Monacal Room, which is more inward and withdrawn.

From the Pastoral Room, extending the stay in Touraine
From the Pastoral Room, the eye naturally continues beyond the moat, the woods and the fields. This openness invites time, not only within the room but also in the landscapes and places around it.
A little further away, the ZooParc de Beauval can take its place within a longer stay, as another way of approaching the living world before returning to the calm of the moat, the trees and the evening light.
Other roads lead towards the landscapes of Touraine, between villages, forests and rivers. Yet often, what matters remains here: in the light slowly descending over the moat, in the calm of evening, and in this simple relationship between the room and the landscape.
Other ways of inhabiting La Corroirie
The Pastoral Room belongs to a set of five rooms, each connected to the place in a different way.
Here, everything opens towards the moat, the park and the evening light. Elsewhere, the relationship changes: closer to the church, roses and garden in the Cardinal Room, or quieter and more open towards the horizon in the Monial Room.
Choosing the Pastoral Room means following the landscape into the evening, in an open relationship between the room, the water and time.
