Private château hire in the Loire Valley for stays and events

La Corroirie is an inhabited château-monastery between Loches and Montrésor, in Touraine. It can be reserved for the exclusive use of a group, for a few days together, a gathering or a project on a larger scale.

A family stay, a creative residency, a wedding, a working retreat, a film shoot or a cultural event will not use the estate in quite the same way. The buildings, the former church, the park, the moat, the pond and the woods offer different possibilities, depending on the project.

The starting point is a conversation about what you want to do, how long you wish to stay and which spaces you might need. The arrangements are then considered in the context of a historic monument that is still lived in.

During an agreed period of private use, no other overnight guests are accommodated and public visits are suspended. The estate is reserved for the group, rather than shared with unrelated visitors.

This does not turn the château-monastery into an empty rental property. A presence remains on site, and arrangements must respect its historic buildings and daily life. The spaces actually used are agreed in advance according to the nature of the gathering.

The church, cellar, reception rooms, sitting room, dining room, terraces and outdoor areas may each have a place in a project. Exclusive use does not mean that every space must be used, nor that every installation is possible.

The five guest rooms can accommodate up to ten people in the château itself. They allow a group to stay for several days and share the place without everyone having to follow the same rhythm.

For some projects, tipis can be set up elsewhere on the estate. Their number and location depend on the group, the season and the practical requirements. They are not a permanent campsite or an automatic part of a stay.

Larger gatherings may require temporary facilities for catering, sanitation, technical equipment or access. Each is considered in advance, with the necessary safety and conservation requirements.

There is no single capacity or fixed formula covering every possible project. A small group staying for a week and a large cultural gathering will need very different arrangements.

The number of people, the duration and the use of indoor and outdoor spaces determine what is feasible. Where additional accommodation is needed, options can also be considered outside the estate.

Families, friends and small groups can spend several days together without following a prescribed programme. The five bedrooms and shared spaces give everyone somewhere to return to after a walk, a visit or a conversation.

The shared kitchenette allows guests to prepare simple meals from local produce. Meals can also be discussed as part of the arrangements for a particular group.

Creative residencies, workshops and retreats may need time, quiet or places to work together. The duration and use of the rooms are agreed around the people and their project.

A wedding, family celebration, reunion, seminar or professional meeting can take place in different parts of the château-monastery and its grounds. The arrangement depends on the size and character of the event, not on a standard reception package.

A gathering may last a few hours or extend over several days. When accommodation is part of the project, the five rooms allow some participants to remain on site.

You may work with your own service providers, provided their activities and installations are suitable for the buildings and landscape. These practical conditions are discussed before the event.

The estate may also be considered for film and photo shoots, cultural events, installations and other projects that involve teams, equipment or a larger number of participants.

These projects call for a different scale of preparation. Access, circulation, technical requirements, temporary structures, meals, safety, noise and the protection of the monument must all be addressed according to the proposed use.

Experience of welcoming larger events helps inform these discussions, but no fixed maximum capacity or automatic permission can be promised. The feasibility of each project is assessed individually.

You do not need a fully developed plan to make contact. A first idea, approximate dates, the number of people, the duration and the spaces you envisage are enough to begin a conversation.

The place can be considered for certain projects in winter as well as during the public visiting season. Requests between 11 November and 31 March are studied according to the project and the spaces required.
