The Seigneurial Room, old volumes and interior presence
The Seigneurial Room unfolds as a generous interior space, carried by old beams and the presence of wood. The eye does not look far away: it remains inside, within the depth of the place.
Volumes, materials and light compose a dense room, where one inhabits an interior shaped by time, at the heart of the château-monastère de la Corroirie.
A room carried by volume
The old beams structure the space and give it a particular stability. The volumes are ample, settled, almost silent, as if the place had found its balance over time.
Nothing here tries to open out or expand. The room stands in its own depth, in a form of continuous presence.
Here, the gaze does not escape: it attaches itself to the walls, the materials, and to what remains.
Inhabiting an ancient interior
The antique furniture does not merely decorate the room: it extends the walls, accompanies the materials and contributes to this sense of depth.
The room belongs to the set of rooms of the château-monastère de la Corroirie, conceived as different ways of inhabiting an ancient place still lived in today.
Staying here means inhabiting a more inward-facing space, in a different relation from the Pastoral Room, which opens towards the landscape and the light.

Other ways of inhabiting La Corroirie
The Seigneurial Room belongs to a set of five rooms, each shaped by a different relation to the place.
Here, everything leads back inside — the beams, the volumes, the thickness of the walls. Light enters more discreetly, held by the old openings, and maintains a cooler, more stable atmosphere, even in the heart of summer. In the same wing, the Monacal Room extends this simpler, more stripped-back relation to the place.
On the other side, beyond the staircase and the great sitting room, the relation changes: the Cardinal Room opens more towards the church and garden, in a closer relationship with the life of the place.
