The Monacal Room, simplicity and retreat in the château
The Monacal Room belongs to a more marked form of simplicity. The space is restrained, the lines are clear, and the presence of the stones is enough to structure the place.
Here, the eye does not seek to open out. It remains within the room, in a more inward-facing, more silent relationship, at the heart of the château-monastère de la Corroirie.
A room held by simplicity
The materials are present without effect. Stone, terracotta tiles and antique furniture compose a sober space, where each element naturally finds its place.
Nothing here tries to attract the eye. The room remains in a form of restraint, in keeping with the character of the place.
Inhabiting silence
The sleeping area and the bathroom belong to a simple continuity, without rupture from the main room.
The room belongs to the set of rooms of the château-monastère de la Corroirie, conceived as different ways of inhabiting an ancient place still lived in today.
Staying here means inhabiting a more inward-facing room, in a different relation from the Monial Room, which opens towards the horizon and the light.

Other ways of inhabiting La Corroirie
The Monacal Room belongs to a set of five rooms, each connected to the place in a different way.
Here, the gaze remains inside, in a more restrained relationship with the place. Elsewhere, it moves differently: closer to the church, old roses and garden in the Cardinal Room, or more open towards the moat and horizon in the Monial Room.
Choosing the Monacal Room means inhabiting a more inward-facing space, in a form of simplicity and silence, where the place holds itself without seeking to open out.
